ServiceTitan UK Alternative — Without the US Price Tag

ServiceTitan is a serious product. We're not pretending otherwise. It's the dominant US field-service platform for HVAC and electrical, and the dispatch board is genuinely well-built. It's also priced for North American enterprise — by quote only, commonly £400-£500 per user per month for a UK install, plus implementation fees that can reach five figures. For a UK HVAC or electrical shop with 5-25 engineers, the math just doesn't work. A ServiceTitan UK alternative built in pounds, with VAT, CIS, Gas Safe and F-Gas as native concepts, gets you the same dispatch board and reporting at one-tenth the cost. That's the gap we built into.

ServiceTitan UK alternative — OptitechAutomation comparison
ServiceTitan vs OptitechAutomation features

Same dispatch. One-tenth the price.

The features ServiceTitan ships that actually matter for a UK shop are: a dispatch board you can stare at all day, a calendar that doesn't lie, a mobile engineer app with offline capability, asset history per site, a reporting layer for week-on-week revenue, and integration to your accounting tool. We ship every one of those, with two important differences: it's priced for UK shops with 1-30 engineers, and the defaults are UK defaults (VAT, CIS, Xero, Gas Safe). A ServiceTitan UK alternative shouldn't try to be the same product — it should be the same outcome built for a smaller UK shop.

ServiceTitan UK alternative — feature comparison table

Dispatch board

Every engineer, every job, every SLA timer, one screen. Drag a job between engineers — both calendars update instantly, customer gets an SMS. Same outcome as ServiceTitan's dispatch screen, built for 5-25 engineer shops not 50+.

Scheduling

Auto-allocation by post-code distance, qualification, fairness ranking, reliability score. Multi-site PPM contracts auto-create their own calendar entries 30 days out.

Reporting

Weekly performance report sent to your inbox. Margin per job, hours-to-cap per engineer, conversion rate from booking to invoice. ServiceTitan's reporting is more granular; ours is the slice that actually drives decisions.

UK compliance (F-Gas, Gas Safe)

F-Gas register per asset built-in. Gas Safe ID tagging built-in. EICR forms built-in. ServiceTitan's UK release supports VAT, but Gas Safe and F-Gas are not native — they require customisation. Ours treat them as first-class concepts because they're table-stakes for UK shops.

Xero vs QBO

ServiceTitan defaults to QuickBooks Online — possible to integrate with Xero, but not the primary path. We default to Xero because that's what UK trades actually use. Two-way sync from day one. Customers, invoices, payments, line items.

Why ServiceTitan never fit UK trades

Built for 50-engineer US HVAC, priced like it.

ServiceTitan was built by US founders, for the US HVAC and electrical market, where a typical "small business" customer has 30-50 engineers and a head office full of admin. The product reflects that — every feature assumes there's an operations manager, a dispatcher, a sales team, a controller. UK trades of 1-30 engineers usually have one owner doing all of those jobs. ServiceTitan UK alternative pages have proliferated because so many UK shops adopt ServiceTitan, find it over-spec'd, and start looking for something simpler. Our product is what they were looking for: same outcomes, built for a smaller shop, in pounds, with UK conventions.

Migration from ServiceTitan

Ten to fourteen days. Worth it.

ServiceTitan stores a lot. Customer records, asset history per site, PPM contracts, multi-year service logs, photo libraries, invoicing history, payroll integrations. Migrating it all takes longer than from a simpler tool — most ServiceTitan-to-OptitechAutomation migrations land in ten to fourteen days. We map customers first, assets second, contracts third, and run a parallel period where both systems are live for the first week. Cristian sits with you on screen-share through that first week. By day fifteen you're saving £4,000-£6,000 a month and your team has the same dispatch capability they had on ServiceTitan, with less interface noise.

Founder story

I'm Cristian, in Torbay, Devon. I built this after watching a 14-engineer HVAC shop pay ServiceTitan £6,800 a month and use a fraction of it.

They had every feature. Inventory module, sales-commission tracking, automated marketing campaigns. They used the dispatch board, the calendar, the mobile app, the Xero integration. That's it. The rest cost them £4,000 a month of "we'll get to that eventually" features they never adopted. We built a ServiceTitan UK alternative around the slice they actually used — dispatch, schedule, mobile, Xero — and stripped the rest. They're now paying £1,749 a month and run the same operation. The £60,000-a-year saving funded two more engineer salaries, which is the kind of math that actually scales a UK trade.
